Pender’s 24 Hour Vet & Emergency Animal Hospital offers all of these for Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area residents.
Current law and our standards prohibit us from practicing medicine over the phone without physically examining your pet but we can assist you in deciding if your pet is having an emergency and needs to be seen by an emergency veterinarian in your area.

With the summer quickly approaching, I’m sure you have already begun to fantasize about your upcoming vacations. We can all get carried away with the many details of planning that must be done before you even begin to think about packing! Sometimes with all the excitement of the trip, we leave some of the most important details behind – such as who will take care of your furry, feathery or scaly friends. That’s where we, Pender Exotics, come in to make your pet care as worry-free as possible. Let’s take a look at everything Pender Exotics has to offer you and your pet.
State of the Art Boarding Facilities
Our facility provides numerous boarding options for all different species. Our aviary includes multiple size choices for enclosures that can house anything from Macaws to Finches. The aviary is also temperature-regulated and enclosed to eliminate any variance in air circulation. For small mammals, we have enclosures that can house ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and many other small rodent species. We also have a reptile nook where we can board small reptile species and some large reptile species. If you can name it, we have a spot for your exotics pet!
Experienced Exotics Doctors and Technicians Staffed 24/7
You can rest assured that your pet is in the best care possible with our knowledgeable, caring and compassionate staff at Pender Exotics. Our patient support staff have all been trained in handling, husbandry and daily diets for each species. As a tip, we recommend bringing in the diet your pet is currently eating but we can also provide many different diets and fresh produce for our patients if needed. Each cage is cleaned daily, or even twice daily, and each pet’s weight is consistently monitored for healthy eating habits. Our exotics trained veterinarians are on staff 24/7 should any medical concerns arise.
For boarding you will want to make sure your pet is completely up to date with our boarding requirements. These requirements are a safety precaution we take with all our patients to ensure your pet’s health remains the same or even better than when they came into our facility during their stay. We have different boarding requirements for each species, and all are listed on our website https://pendervet.com/exotics/boarding/.
