In my free time, I enjoy reading and listening to podcasts. I’m working on my cooking skills and enjoy trying new recipes. When not indoors, I also love to travel and explore National Parks across the country with my husband, Jonathan. At home, we share our space with a wonderful pup named Crosby and three fantastic cats – Patsy, Arlo, and Bowie (all named for some of our favorite musicians).
I trace my passion for veterinary medicine to always having animals growing up and participating in 4-H as a kid. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a veterinarian. While in veterinary school, I became especially interested in the interconnectivity between human, animal, and environmental health. I found that I loved the opportunity to not only care for my animal patients, but also make a significant impact in the lives of their owners and the greater community. After pursuing my education in Ohio, I moved to “the state up north” (Michigan) and practiced general medicine in the greater Detroit area. We recently moved to Virginia, and I’m excited to continue my veterinary career here with the Pender team!
